Executive branch's administrative
team to in setting public meeting
agendas with much of the
Board’swork focused on reviewing
contracts that keeps Essex County
running efficiently each day.

Essex County is one of the few
local governments in the state that
presents a balanced budget on or
before the State's deadline. Each
year, the Board conducts the
Budget Hearings to review every
department within the County
government. The hearings are open
to the public and streamed live for
transparency and accessibility.

As Commissioner President,
Pomares often joins the County
Executive and fellow stakeholders
for ribbon-cutting events
celebrating recent
accomplishments, as well as
cultural events, and
commemorative ceremonies such
as the County’s annual Memorial
Day and 9/11 Remembrance
observences.

Pomares takes pride in maintaining
an active schedule,attending
community meetings, celebrations,
parades, and others that recognize
the important work being done
throughout Essex County by
individuals and civic groups.

• Supported significant improvements to Essex County's Vocational Schools and Essex County College, including new buildings and technology.
• Supported improvements to our nationally recognized County Parks System, award-winning Turtle Back Zoo and three recently renovated golf courses which help raise revenue for County operations.
• Helped to initiate the County's highly successful Free TNVR Cat Spay/Neuter services (trap - neuter/spay - vaccinate - release) done collaboratively with Associated Humane Societies and CPAW NJ
• Supports Countywide Complete Streets Policy
• Supported millions of dollars of county road and intersection improvements
• Supported and participated in 100+ food drives since Covid
• Supported the County's Statewide leading response to the Covid pandemic with testing and vaccination sites.
• Initiated the Morris Canal Greenway efforts in Essex County, including the restoration of the historic Collins House, preservation of Morris Canal waterway remnants into Canal Park at Oak Tree Lane (Bloomfield), initiating with Wayfinder signs in Bloomfield, assisting with marker signs in Belleville in collaboration with Green Belleville Association
